– Black sesame soup: visit the house of an old man who was honored to be ‘pudding master’ because he made and sold this special soup for more than 50 years. Learn about ingredients and the process to make the soup with a demonstration. Try a warm black sesame soup that is made by his children.
– Cao lau noodles: visit a local pure vegetarian restaurant hidden away in a small alley. Here, the family members have made and sold vegetarian food for more than 30 years. Try Cao Lau noodles, the most special local food in Hoi An, a fusion of Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese cuisines. It’s made of rice noodles, rice crackers, tofu, fresh herbs and soy bean sauce.
– Banh beo: try steamed rice dumplings at a local’s favorite eatery.
– Banh bot loc: try steamed dumplings made of tapioca flour and mung bean as filling at a local’s favorite eatery.
