Itinerary
– Hoi An grilled pork: visit a pavement eatery where you can see how the locals make this delicious food and then try it. A set of this dish includes grilled pork skewers, fresh rice paper, dry rice paper, raw vegetables and herbs, and local style dipping sauce.
– Black sesame soup: visit the house of an old man who was honored to be ‘pudding master’ because he made and sold this special soup for more than 50 years. – Banh mi: visit one of the most famous restaurants making and selling this specialty food that is honored to be ‘Banh Mi Queen’ because of delicious sandwiches. Hoi An style banh mi has differences to other variations in Vietnam. It’s first invented in the colonial period when French introduced their baguette into the country.
– Banh beo: try steamed rice dumplings at a local’s favorite eatery. It’s served with pork sausage, fermented pork and fish sauce.
– Banh bot loc: try tapioca dumplings with pork and shrimp filling and fish sauce at a local favorite’s eatery. See more details
– Herbal tea: visit the only store in Hoi An where a family sells the most special local herbal tea/drink. It’s made of local herbs and Chinese medicine.
– Rice paper pizza: visit a local street vendor and watch how the owner makes this local favorite’s snack. It’s made by rice paper, chopped spring onion, crispy potato, fried shallot and chili/tomato sauce.
– Banana pancake: visit a local street vendor at one of the largest night markets and try her banana pancake for desert. It still produces the fresh water today and the locals use it to make many specialty dishes such as Cao Lau noodles.
