Overview

Da Nang’s centre has many bridges and museums that some of which are must see. Within a half day, travelers will explore 2 best museums: regional Ho Chi Minh Museum and national Museum of Cham Sculpture. While the first is informative about the Vietnam war and showcases interesting artifacts from that time, the second is unique. It houses the largest collection of sandstone sculptures in the country – up to 2,000 and 400 of them are officially exhibited. In the rest of the trip, bridges spanning the Han River with different styles are next places to visit. In the Love Lock bridge, couples can leave their own lock here, besides the emblematic statue of Da Nang – the “carp transforming into dragon”.

Ho Chi Minh and the Fifth Military Zone Museum
This is the largest war and Ho Chi Minh museum in the region. It’s a part of a camp of the 5th military zone of the People’s Army of Vietnam. Around its large ground, there are aircrafts, tanks, bombs and more that were belongged to the American forces. A temple for worship of Vietnam’s first president is also built, by a fish pond.

Museum of Cham Sculpture
One-fifth of 2,000 sculptures found across former Champa Kingdom’s lands are now preserved in this important museum. Many of which are brought from special places, such as My Son Sanctuary – the holy land, Tra Kieu – first capital or Dong Duong – South-east Asian largest Buddhist monastery at its time. While touring around, visitors will learn a lot about a new civilization and marvel at very precious artworks. Not far away, the Dragon Bridge is in top 30 of the most unique bridges of the world.

Thuan Phuoc Bridge (Pass By)
Built near the estuary of Han River, this is the largest cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam. It’s over 1,800 meters in length and 80 meters in height. From its top, visitors can see other bridges in Da Nang’s downtown as well as beautiful sunset down the horizon.

Dragon Bridge
Opened to the traffic in 2013 on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of the liberation in Da Nang, this is one of unofficial emblem of the city. It’s 650 meters long, 37,5 meters wide and famous for a yellow-hued dragon in the middle. The holy animal faces towards the sea and breathes fire and water every weekend. In Vietnamese beliefs, the action has a significance.

Love Bridge Da Nang
By the statue of “the carp transforming into the dragon”, this bridge is smallest but not least special. Couples like to leave their own lock here to express their strong and permanent love.
